My partnership with this great company started 4 years ago. I was invited to visit the headquarters in Geneva.
Clarence, MHW Marketing, showed me the Dry.Q Elite membrane. He demonstrated the waterproofness by pouring a glass of water over a jacket made of Dry.Q Elite and the water beaded, the fabric didn’t get wet at all.
He also showed off its breathability by pumping air through a Dry.Q Elite sample into a cylinder of water and then, did the same using a sample from a competitor market leader membrane. The difference was incredible. The Dry.Q Elite test tube was filled with big water bubbles, while the second one showed no more than one little bubble.
I was still very skeptical when I received my white Dry.Q Elite Snowtastic Jacket and Pants. I would never have chosen white as my previous uniforms, which were all made of the competitor market leader membrane, would get dirty and washing would result in ruining their waterproof properties. However I was unable to ignore the confidence of the MHW team.
The Dry.Q Elite SnowtasticJacket guarantees its waterproof/breathability properties for 80 washes.
After 6 months of continuous use in extreme conditions my jacket and pants suffered nothing more than a few minor abrasions from skis and ski boots. Yes it needed washing more than once a week because of its colour but this was not a problem. In fact the washing actually helps the performance of the jacket as the Dry.Q Elite membrane breaths better when it is clean.

After the first season I wore my white jacket a bit less often but I still use it and lend it to various friends and family members that come skiing. The jacket still looks fantastic and works perfectly, even in extremely wet conditions.
The picture at the top of this article was taken on the 5 december 2014 and it shows my 4 year old jacket still beading!

Since then I have had two evolutions of the same model and Dry.Q Elite is still fantastic.
This year I have a new model called Alchemy which is more of a mountaineering jacket and also made with Dry.Q Elite. I will be posting a full review a bit later of the new jacket but as long as it is Dry.Q Elite by Mountain Hardwear, I know I can trust it.
